about
“Out of My Mind” is the second single off of Sweet Magnolia’s debut album, Miss Missed Connection, out June 7th.
About the Track: Meg Dwyer, the band's lead singer says, "Last year, I was quite blindsided and devastated by a breakup. In the months that followed, to my great frustration, I'd still reminisce on memories of them. I'd still check their horoscope when I checked mine. In fact, it seemed that no matter what I did, as the song goes, I still couldn't get that f***ing [redacted astrological sign] out of my mind!
Since songwriting is therapy, I wrote this song, for anyone that can relate. The major key and repetitive bass line speaks out to the exasperation of *trying to be happy, damn it!* and my hope is that everything else sounds sassy. The horn soli makes me think of hope and the stars, for some reason, and I love the idea of staying with an astrological theme, even if only musically!"

LYRICS
Smoked a joint, I took a walk,
Took a bath, but my mind, it just won’t stop.
Threw out all your love notes and your pictures too.
Drank all of my wine, but I still can’t shake you.
Cuz I’ll still check your horoscope,
I’ll think of you and my mind feels so blue
Somehow I’ve got to shake you off and get you out of my mind.
Good times have come and gone when I’m thinking of you.
Rearranged my mind and my feelings for you.
But I’ll still check your horoscope,
I’ll think of you and my mind feels so blue
Somehow I’ve got to shake you off and get you…..
Out of My Mind X4
I’ll still check your horoscope,
I’ll think of you and my mind feels so blue
Somehow I’ve got to shake you off and get you out of my mind.
Yeah, I’ll still check your horoscope,
I’ll think of you and my mind feels so blue
Somehow I’ve got to shake you off and get you…..

Sweet Magnolia blends the genres of powerhouse New Orleans brass with the earworms of pop music. Their songs are a rare
combination of original female storytelling in the brass medium – unapologetically sassy, infectiously fun, and bold. Their debut full-length album, Miss Missed Connection, will be out in June of 2024!...more
